Guests enjoying Shirley's fantastic hospitality and gorgeous home made cakes

Following on from the successful Hairy Haggis Event in Edinburgh, Shirley James (Russell’s Mum!) very kindly organised and hosted a “Garden Party” at her house in the Isle of Wight. Shirley made dozens of gorgeous sandwiches and home made cakes and scones, and ran a raffle. Overall Shirley raised a fantastic £310.00 for AD, and the afternoon was enjoyed by 40 people. Thank you for your hard work and continued support Shirley.

Reminder – the Rutland Water Bike Ride will be taking place on Sunday June 27th 2010 at 10.30am – contact Action Deafness for more information and tickets.

On Saturday 1st May, a group of students and volunteers from South Leicestershire College will climb Mount Snowdon, and all proceeds from their sponsorship will be donated to Action Deafness. We would like to thank them all for agreeing to do this and wish them all the best with the climb. We look forward to hearing all about it and hopefully seeing some photos.

Thank you to all who supported the AD Hairy Haggis Team last night at Little India.  A great night was had by all, and the entertainment by Emma and Russell was fabulous – thank you to you both.  We raised £451.50 – so thank you all once again.

There was a working group meeting on February 23rd attended by all group representatives and further investigation into the relocation of the user groups will continue at the meeting on March 23rd.

The next community meeting is set for 9th March at 7pm, and Archdeacon Atkinson from the Diocese of Leicester will be coming to give a short presentation about the future of the chaplaincy services.

The date of the next Community Meeting has been changed to Tuesday 9th March 2010 at 7pm in the Keay Hall, Action Deafness, 135 Welford Road, Leicester – not the 2nd March as previously advertised.

We are pleased to announce that Andrew Neal has agreed to join the Board of Trustees.

It was decided at the community meeting last night that a “Working Group” would be established to ensure the move to new premises would be as smooth as possible and communication would be open and frequent. There are to be 5 representatives from the groups, 2 trustees and 1 member of AD staff involved in this group.

The 5 group representatives are as follows:

Anne Lawrence
Barbara McCarthy
Austin Reeves

The two Trustees will be:

Kevin Watts
John Duddington

The staff representative will alternate between the following:
Craig Crowley, Steve Crump, Jane Holden and Belinda Spruce.

The first meeting will be held at 7pm on February 23rd in the Keay Hall.

Following on from last nights Community Meeting, the next meeting is booked for 7pm on Tuesday 2nd March 2010 in the Keay Hall, Action Deafness, 135 Welford Road, Leicester. All welcome.
