Community Development

Community Development is a service to encourage links between the hearing and D/deaf communities and organisations throughout the organisations geographical remit.

The aim is to provide access to information, advice and guidance to individuals and organisations regarding deafness. deaf issues and the deaf community through referral to services provided by Action Deafness, such as the communication services and learning services.

Through representation at local information and social events the community development role can provide an outreach facility to those wishing to gain more information about deafness, the deaf community and working with deaf people more effectively.

Establishing events such as Deaf Awareness festivals and social events such as comedy night further encourages the promotion of links between the deaf and hearing communities.
